Today’s News: Nigeria’ll overcome socio-economic challenges-Jonathan, APC kicks off campaign rallies

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed optimism that the country will soon overcome the current socio-economic challenges facing the people.
Jonathan stated this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, yesterday, while formally declaring open the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Yenagoa Law Week 2024 with the theme: ‘The Legal Profession In A Time Of Socio-Economic Uncertainty’.
The ex-President, represented by a lawyer and first-class monarch in Bayelsa, King Collins Daniel, noted that the Federal Government is doing its best to salvage the situation.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, on Saturday, kicked off campaign rallies for the Ebonyi State local government council election in Ezza North.
Speaking during the event at Ebiaji, the council headquarters, Ebonyi State APC Chairman, Mr Stanley Okoro-Emegha, enjoined supporters to work for the party’s victory at the polls.
The state APC chairman called for unity among the supporters and urged them to see the party as an indivisible family.
He vowed to make Ebonyi an opposition-free state by ensuring that those who are yet to join the APC are brought into the party within the campaign season.

One person, was confirmed dead in an accident, that occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Saturday morning.
The fatal accident involved a Mini Truck (MUS 489 XS) and a Toyota Camry (KRD 470 JD).
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by excessive speeding during a heavy downpour this morning,” the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said in a statement.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr Sola Giwa, in the statement signed by Mr Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, said that three others were rescued at the accident scene.

The Lagos State Government, has assured residents of the state of its resolve to complete all ongoing road and bridge infrastructure projects across the state.
Cabinet members of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led government, including the Special Adviser, Office of Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola and the Commissioner For Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, and other officials, gave the assurance during a tour of five strategic road infrastructure projects on Friday.
Some of the projects visited during the tour include the ongoing construction of the Abiola-Onijemo Link Road with bridge, the Ikeja Urban Regeneration Project spanning 5 kilometres consisting of five roads such as Oduduwa Way, Oduduwa Cresent, Oba Dosunmu, Sobo Arobiodu, and Sasegbon Streets.
