Emeka Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives who also served as the sixth Governor of Imo State, has discussed the Supreme Court of Nigeria's decision to remove him from his position as governor. Recall that the highest court in the land removed Ihedioha from his position as governor after he had served for seven months. At the same time, the court certified Hope Uzodinma, the nominee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to be the legitimate victor of the 2019 election for governor.

According to the record kept by INEC, Ihedioha stated in a video that was recently uploaded to YouTube by Arise TV that the majority of Nigerians that he is acquainted with were taken aback by the decision of the court. This is due to the fact that he was able to win the election by a significant margin. According to him, the electoral authority even had his name listed as the winner of the election until November 11, 2023, which was the date of the next election for governor.

Ihedioha stated that despite the setback, he continues to have faith in the Nigerian system. He also stated that he attributes his acceptance of the judgement to his faith in God.

In Ihedioha's words: "INEC had my name as winner of the election up till November 2023, so for INEC I won the election with close to 100,000 votes margin. So I didn't see where it was coming".
