According to Vanguard, The political crisis in Rivers State has taken a new turn, with Governor Siminalayi Fubara facing increasing pressure to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to the party's apparent lack of support for him. The recent Appeal Court judgment in favor of Martins Amaewhule and 26 Assembly members has further intensified the political tension in the state.

Political commentators and activists, including Franklin Ntekim and Solomon Lenu, have urged Fubara to exit the PDP, citing the party's toxicity and lack of support from its leadership. They suggest that Fubara's chances of winning the upcoming local government election in October are slim if he remains in the PDP.

Some have suggested that Fubara consider joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP) or Accord Party, which have a degree of popularity in the state. However, the Labor Party has been ruled out due to its perceived compromise by powerful forces in Abuja.

The crisis in Rivers State continues to unfold, with the political landscape increasingly complex and uncertain.
