Brigadier General Sani Usman (Retd), the former Army Spokesman, has spoken about recent attacks in Gwoza, Borno State, by female suicide bombers.

In a video shared by TVC, Usman said one of the suicide bombers got out of a tricycle (keke) and attacked a soldier and a Civilian Joint Task Force member. He said fortunately, they survived but were injured.

Usman emphasized the need for increased security awareness among the residents of Gwoza. He despite Gwoza being a large town, most people know each other, even with the arrival of many internally displaced persons (IDPs). He stressed that the community must stay vigilant and aware of their surroundings to prevent such attacks.

In Usman's words: "The last suicide bomber alighted from a tricycle and just grabbed a Soldier and a Civilian JTF, luckily they didn't die. I think they sustained degrees of injuries, so these are the issues. So who was even driving the Keke? If you are familiar with Gwoza, it is a big town but almost everybody knows each other even though there are influx of IDPs. People have to be more security conscious to deal with this issues"
