Salary Increment By 35% And Not Minimum wage, Labour Clarifies

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, has clarified that the 25 per cent and 35 per cent increase in workers’ salary announced by the Federal Government is not minimum wage.
The President of the association, Tommy Okon, made the clarification while fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr Okon, who is also the Vice President of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, said that the approval of the salary increase was to close the salary gap that existed in some Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

FG Unveils Aso Accord For Universal Financial Access

The Federal Government has unveiled the Aso Accord on Economic and Financial Inclusion, a multi-pronged blueprint designed to achieve universal access to financial services across Nigeria.
The accord, signed on Thursday, April 25 2024 at the State House Banquet Hall, represents a core pillar of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to transform the nation into a $1tn economy by 2030 while combating poverty and insecurity through broad-based prosperity.
The Vice President’s Spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday titled ‘FG targets universal financial access, unveils Aso Accord on economic and financial inclusion.’
FG Plans Compensation For Victims Of Ogun Gas Explosion

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, on Wednesday, said that the Federal Government was planning to compensate victims of last Saturday’s tanker gas explosion at Ita-Oshin, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
The fire accident, which involved a tanker of a gas truck belonging to Gascon Marine Ltd, Abeokuta, claimed the life of the driver, while about six other vehicles and two other shops were equally burnt.
The Minister also charged stakeholders in the gas industry to prioritize issues of standards and safety measures as the Federal Government won’t allow the lives of its citizens to be so endangered.
Bauchi Postpones North East Trade Fair

Bauchi State government has postponed the 15th edition of the North East Joint Trade Fair planned for May 4 -6, 2024.
Bauchi was billed to hold the trade fair alongside the 10th meeting of the North East Governors Forum but could not continue with the preparation as planned because “of a number of unavoidable circumstances beyond control.”
The spokesperson of the Bauchi State governor, Mukhtar Mohammed Gidado disclosed this in a statement made available to reporters in Bauchi.
He said the organisers are working diligently to finalise new dates for these events, which will be communicated to the public in due course.
