47 rail track vandals allegedly working for Alhaji Babawo arrested with two loaded trucks

According to a report by Daily post on Saturday, 29, 2024, Troops from the 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna have apprehended 47 suspects accused of vandalizing rail tracks, according to an official statement released on Saturday by the Nigerian Army Headquarters.

The operation took place on June 26, 2024, during a routine patrol along Kakau Daji- Anguwan Ayaba.


The arrested suspects were found in the act of loading vandalized rail tracks onto two trucks. They claimed to be working under the employ of Alhaji Babawo, who is currently evading capture. Their purported task was to transport the stolen tracks to a nearby bush for further distribution.


During a profiling session at the 312 Artillery Regiment Kaduna, Lt. Col. IY Rena, Acting Commander of the 1 Division Provost Group, supervised the initial investigation to determine the extent of each suspect's involvement.

He disclosed that each suspect underwent individual interviews and cross-examinations, emphasizing ongoing efforts to apprehend the gang's leader.


Upon inspection of the crime scene, additional vandalized rail tracks were discovered concealed in nearby bushes, awaiting collection by the criminal syndicate.

The apprehended suspects were subsequently transferred to the Nigeria Railway Corporation authorities at Kaduna Station for further inquiry and prosecution.
