According to DAILY POST reports, the Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dungurawa, has issued a stern warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, cautioning that his perceived silence on the ongoing tussle over the Kano Emirate will ultimately work against his re-election bid in 2027.

Speaking to reporters at his Lugard House office on Sunday, Dungurawa expressed concern over Tinubu's handling of the Kano Emirate crisis, which has seen the state militarized, while the key players in the dispute continue to roam freely.

"Your perceived stance on the ongoing Kano Emirate Tussles would surely work against you in 2027 because if you think you can use it to gain ground in Kano when the Chips are down you will realize your mistakes," Dungurawa said.

The NNPP chairman accused the President of attempting to use a few of his kinsmen in Kano, as well as the alleged Yoruba lineage of the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero, to keep the former monarch in the state.

However, Dungurawa warned that these tactics would not save Tinubu in the 2027 election.

"If the President thinks he will use a few of his Kins men in Kano and the alleged Bayero's Yoruba lineage to continue to keep the Deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero in the State, let him wait for 2027, we will show him that those People will not help him," Dungurawa warned.

The NNPP leader appealed to President Tinubu to intervene and ensure the deposed Emir is removed from Kano, arguing that this would be in the best interest of the state and the President's political future.

Dungurawa also used the occasion to reiterate his party's intention to field the NNPP's national leader, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as its presidential candidate in 2027, expressing confidence that Kwankwaso would emerge victorious.

Additionally, the NNPP chairman took a swipe at the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, accusing him of misgovernance during his tenure as Kano State Governor.

Dungurawa alleged that Ganduje's administration had failed to pay gratuities and pensions to civil servants, leading to the destitution and abject poverty of retirees in the state.
