According to reports on DAILY POST, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, has strongly condemned the abduction of its members, which occurred on Saturday at around 10:30 pm.

In a joint statement issued on Sunday by the Council’s Chairman, Asma’u Halilu, and Secretary, Gambo Sanga, the NUJ expressed shock over the brazen and barbaric attack by suspected kidnappers.

"NUJ has received with shock, the brazen and barbaric attack by suspected kidnappers," the statement read.

The attack led to the abduction of the Kaduna State Correspondents of The Nation Newspaper and the Blueprint Newspaper, along with their families, at their residences in the Danhono area, a suburb in Chikun LGA.

The NUJ condemned the incident and appealed to the security agencies in the state to take swift action to rescue the journalists and their families from the kidnappers’ den.

The statement expressed dismay over the unfortunate abduction of the innocent journalists, their wives, and children, highlighting the distress caused to their families and the broader community.

"We implore the government at all levels to intensify efforts towards guaranteeing the security of lives and property of the citizens at all times," the statement added.

It emphasized the need for urgent action to curb the resurgence of kidnapping in Kaduna and its environs to prevent a return to the troubling experiences of the past.

The NUJ also urged all practicing journalists in the state to remain vigilant in their daily activities and to continue praying for the safe return of their abducted colleagues and their families.
