Telecom evolution has impacted Nigeria significantly – Expert, Omodara

A telecommunication expert and budget and financial control manager, Mr Omodara Bamidele Emmanuel has revealed how the evolution of telecommunications in Nigeria has reshaped the country in various positive ways.

In an interview with newsmen on Saturday Omodara expressed optimism that telecommunication will witness more progress and transformation globally and in Nigeria, stating that its evolution from inception has been quite impressive.

He said, “ As we look back on the history of telecom, we can see how far we’ve come. From the first generation of cellular networks (1G) that was primarily analogue and provided only basic voice communication. The shift to digital technology in 2G also paved the way for the development of more advanced mobile networks, such as 3G and 4G.

Strike not imminent – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that strike is not imminent, if the Federal Government implements the agreements reached, in the next two weeks.

Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, President of ASUU said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday (NAN).

It would be recalled that ASUU had threatened to embark on strike over the non-implementation of agreements reached with the federal government.

Martin Amaewhule led-Rivers State House of Assembly has issued a 7-day ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to re-present the 2024 budget to the House.

The ultimatum came after the first sitting of the pro-Wike House on Monday.

DAILY POST reports that the other House led by Victor Oko-Jumbo is also holding a parallel sitting.

Fubara had earlier presented the budget to the House loyal to him when his current Chief of Staff Edison Ehie presided as the Speaker.

Abducted catholic priest, Mikah Suleiman regains freedom

Reverend Father Mikah Suleiman, who was abducted from his rectory at Damba area of Gusau in Zamfara State on Saturday, has been released by his abductors.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Mathew Kukah, disclosed this in a video when he said: “surprise, surprise, I have with me a friend of mine, which I wish to introduce to you”.

Suleiman, in the video, thanked the people for their prayers and support towards his rescue and said by the grace of God, he is out of the hands of bandits and now in the Office of the National Special Adviser, NSA, with his brother Father Chike.
