According to Punch, A tragic incident occurred in Osogbo, Osun State, on Saturday when a man identified as Femi jumped into the Osun River after complaining about the hardship he was facing. Eyewitnesses reported that Femi stood on the Gbodofon bridge, lamented about his struggles, and then took a plunge into the river. This devastating event has left the community in shock, highlighting the urgent need for mental health support and hardship relief.

The incident occurred around 10:30 am, and operatives from the Osun State Fire Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps responded promptly to the emergency. However, the river's overflow hindered rescue efforts, and Femi's body has not been recovered yet. The search operation is ongoing, but the circumstances surrounding Femi's death have sparked concerns about the increasing cases of suicide attempts in the state.

According to the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Kehinde Adeleke, Femi had attempted suicide earlier but was chased away by suspicious onlookers. He returned, stating he was tired of life, and jumped into the river. Adeleke revealed that Femi was the only son of his parents and a native of Ilesha. The eyewitness account suggests that Femi was struggling with hardship, which ultimately led him to take his life.
