Former Edo Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu has declared support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo September 21 poll Senator Monday Okpebholo.
He described the APC standard bearer as one of the two home boys among the 16 candidates.
The other home boy, he said, is the governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) Olumide Akpata, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Cholera outbreak: Under-five children at risk, says UNICEF

The United Nations Children’s Fund has stated that children under the age of five are particularly vulnerable to severe dehydration and higher mortality rates during cholera outbreaks.
A statement by the Chief of UNICEF Lagos Field Office, Celine Lafoucrier, on Saturday, said addressing the challenges of cholera outbreaks requires a deliberate focus of state policies to provide high-standard water and sanitation facilities, as well as strengthened healthcare systems capable of responding to the demand in times of outbreaks.
She added that the state should lead educational campaigns on cholera prevention to protect children and the population at large.
“Recurrent Cholera outbreaks critically affect children and populations at large. These vulnerable groups face substantial health risks, particularly those under five who are prone to severe dehydration and higher mortality rates.
Tinubu mandates us to win Edo for APC – Gov Otu

The South-South coordinator of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governor Bassey Otu, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has mandated him to ensure that Edo State is retrieved from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Otu, who hosted the APC South-South conference in Calabar, the Cross River capital, said he has been alone as APC governor in the region but that in September 2024, another APC governor will join him in Edo State.
“As a person, this meeting means a lot to me. The Almighty God himself detests loneliness. I read the lips of our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leader of our great party.
Senate President Akpabio assures of APC victory

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has given assurances that Edo State’s All Progressives Congress, APC, will win the governorship election in Edo State in September 2024.
He gave the assurance in Calabar, Cross River State’s capital, when he addressed the APC South-South conference.
He charged APC members from Edo State to work harder to defeat the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the governorship poll.
“For those of you from Edo State and any part of the South-South region, the election that is coming up in September 2024, you all must head towards Edo, both in prayers and everything. We have to because we are going to defeat Obaseki,” he said.
Akpabio assured the APC governorship candidate for the Edo governorship election that he has no problems at all.
“Our brother, Senator Monty, you’re not just the hope of Edo; you’re the hope of the APC in the South-South zone. We will support you to succeed,” he said.
