Anthony Nwakaeme, a Nigerian international with one cap for the Super Eagles, has made a surprise return to Turkish side Trabzonspor on a free transfer, according to Soccernet. The 33-year-old winger previously played for Trabzonspor from 2018 to 2022, scoring 14 goals in 74 appearances.

Nwakaeme's return to Trabzonspor comes after a two-year absence, during which he played for Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia. The Nigerian winger has expressed his delight at rejoining the Turkish club, thanking the president and coach for facilitating the transfer.

"I'm grateful to be back at Trabzonspor," Nwakaeme said in an interview. "I missed everything about the club, especially the fans and the joy of victory. I'm excited to be back and contribute to the team's success."

Nwakaeme's return to Trabzonspor has sparked excitement among fans, who are eager to see him link up with another Nigerian player, Paul Onuachu. Onuachu, who has been impressive for Trabzonspor on loan from Southampton, has been linked with a permanent move to the club.

When asked about the possibility of playing alongside Onuachu, Nwakaeme revealed that he has spoken to his compatriot and is eager to team up with him.

"I've spoken to Onuachu, and he's expressed his desire to stay at Trabzonspor," Nwakaeme said. "It would be great to play alongside him again. We had a good understanding during our time together at the national team, and I believe we could achieve great things together at Trabzonspor."

While Nwakaeme's return to Trabzonspor is a done deal, the club is still negotiating with Southampton for Onuachu's transfer. If the deal goes through, it would be a significant boost to Trabzonspor's squad, with two Nigerian internationals leading the charge.

As Trabzonspor prepares for the new season, fans are eagerly anticipating the potential link-up between Nwakaeme and Onuachu. With their combined skills and experience, the duo could be the key to unlocking success for the Turkish side.
