Leaders in Mount Kenya awoke to disheartening news today following the government's abrupt decision to reallocate funds intended for important water projects in the area. This comes after the Mount Kenya area was initially given Sh1.3 billion for important water projects, but the Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Njuguna Ndung'u, allegedly pushed quickly to deny them. Leaders of Mount Kenya have reportedly vowed to overthrow President William Samoei Ruto's administration when the Treasury transferred funds intended for their water project to Ukambani, according to trustworthy sources cited by the Daily Nation.

Hon. Alice Wahome, Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, claimed that her ministry was not consulted and urged the Treasury to refrain from transferring funds intended for the Mount Kenya region to other areas.

Ndindi Nyoro, Gathoni Wamuchomba, and Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa have written to Hon. Njunguna Ndung'u, the Treasury CS, requesting that his decision be rescinded. The incensed leaders swore that they would use their influence to overturn the government's choice. The leaders claimed that Mount Kenya was not receiving its due share of funding from the government.

"We feel undervalued. The assurance was breached. We don't fulfill President William Ruto's promise to finish all outstanding projects in our region.

Recognize the reasons behind the change in this. on addition to having urgent water demands, our numbers on Mount Kenya qualify us for the designated allotment because of the pressure we put on sewer lines, the leaders stated.
