South-East governors and members of the National Assembly (NASS) plan to meet with President Bola Tinubu to discuss releasing Nnamdi Kanu, the detained IPOB leader. Akpata Agrees Hammers Deal

CJN to swear in daughter-in-law, 11 others as High Court judges Wednesday

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will swear in 12 judges to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory on July 10, 2024. Among them is his daughter-in-law, Ariwoola Oluwakemi Victoria. The ceremony will take place at the Supreme Court's Main Courtroom at 10 a.m. The judges come from various states, including Oyo, Kwara, Lagos, and Imo. This follows the National Judicial Council's recommendation of 86 judicial officers for federal and state courts, announced after their 105th plenary meeting in May 2024.

NUJ condemns abduction of Kaduna journalists, families

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council condemned the abduction of two journalists, Abdulgafar Alabelewe and AbdulRaheem Abdu, along with their families. The kidnapping occurred on Saturday night in the Dahjonu community, Chikun LGA, Kaduna State. The NUJ described the act as brazen and barbaric, urging security agencies to rescue the captives and calling on the government to prioritize citizens' security. The council also advised journalists to remain vigilant.
