The Daily Post has reported that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, a former Imo State commissioner for lands, has urged Chief Emeka Ihedioha, the former governor of the state, to consider joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ihedioha recently resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing disagreements with the party's current direction and his personal beliefs. He expressed disappointment in the party's abandonment of its core principles and its failure to enact internal reforms or effectively challenge the APC-led government.

In his resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman in Mbutu Ward, Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State, Ihedioha stated, "Unfortunately, the party has veered off course from my personal convictions in recent times. Despite my efforts to offer advice, the party, regrettably, is no longer capable of implementing internal reforms, upholding its own regulations, or providing credible opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress. Therefore, I am compelled to tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect."

Following Ihedioha's departure, several prominent PDP members in Imo State, including Chief Charles Ugwu, the state chairman, former deputy governor Engineer Gerald Irona, and former education commissioner Prof. Jude Njoku, also resigned.

Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the former chief of staff to former Imo governor Rochas Okorocha, addressed the situation with the media and encouraged Ihedioha and other former PDP stalwarts from Imo State to consider joining the APC. He highlighted the opportunity to collaborate with Governor Hope Uzodimma to advance the state's development.

Nwosu suggested that Ihedioha and his associates could collaborate with the governor and other patriots to progress Imo if they aligned with the ruling APC. He also stressed the potential for them to effectively support President Bola Tinubu's administration by joining the APC.

Nwosu remarked, "I have been observing the developments in the Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and I am aware of some significant figures in the party resigning, including Rt. Hon. Ihedioha, his deputy in the 2019 governorship election, Hon. Irona, and several other leaders and key members of the party. Since their departure, there has been speculation on their next political course, and given the circumstances, joining the ruling party, APC, seems to be the most viable option for them."
