Benue Gov Seeks Military Intervention Over LG Crisis

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia requested full military intervention to address insecurity in the Ukum Local Government Area after violent protests. The protests followed the killing of residents in Ayati village. The police arrested 18 suspects and the governor declared a curfew. Alia emphasized collaboration with security agencies, announced the formation of a commission of enquiry, and warned criminals that the government would no longer extend an olive branch. Injured security personnel were treated and discharged.

Army Troops Eliminate Two Terrorists in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army conducted successful clearance operations in Kaduna State, neutralizing two terrorists in Gama Gira Village, Igabi Local Government Area. The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a mobile phone, charger, and cash during the operation. Additionally, another operation led to the recovery of a PKT gun from fleeing terrorists in Jangeme Ruwan Kunku. These actions were part of ongoing efforts to dislodge terrorist elements from the region.

Autopsy: Police deny claim on Brekete Family, insist Erasmus not tortured to death

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has denied allegations of torturing Erasmus Emhenya to death at Nyanya police station. Erasmus' mother had accused the police of his death during a radio and TV program. She claimed Erasmus died from injuries sustained during alleged torture following his arrest in connection with a murder case. However, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer stated that an autopsy showed Erasmus died from other causes, not torture, inviting interested parties to review the report at their headquarters in Abuja.
