Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, disclosed that the reason they did not support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 general elections was because they believed it was the Igbo's turn to produce the President. He emphasized that now that Tinubu is the President, the Igbo community, both in Nigeria and the Diaspora, should rally behind him. Iwuanyanwu clarified that the Igbo community does not harbor any animosity towards President Tinubu; rather, they advocate for equal treatment for all ethnic groups.

Reflecting on past interactions, Iwuanyanwu mentioned his acquaintance with Tinubu through his friendship with the late MKO Abiola. He recalled that Tinubu worked for Abiola, indicating a historical connection between them. Despite not supporting Tinubu during the elections due to their preference for an Igbo candidate, Iwuanyanwu emphasized the need for unity and urged Tinubu to ensure the preservation of the Igbo community's rights and interests.

During a visit by the Igbo Community Assembly to his Abuja residence, Iwuanyanwu conveyed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and collaboration among Nigeria's diverse ethnic groups.
