Ondo APC Gov Primary Mega Fraud – Jimoh Ibrahim

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs and an APC gubernatorial aspirant in Ondo State, has alleged that the party's primary election held on April 20, 2024, was a "mega fraud." He claimed that the election lacked transparency and was marred by irregularities, noting that he was unable to vote for himself due to logistical failures.

Senator Ibrahim has taken legal action, urging the court to invalidate the primary election results and remove the APC from participating in the November general election. He referenced reports from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that allegedly highlight widespread irregularities, including the absence of voting in numerous wards and local government areas across Ondo State.

Onwubiko urged Matawalle to pursue legal action against those spreading defamatory claims. He criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly being influenced by political interests and cautioned against baseless accusations without evidence. Suleja Prisons was built with mud over 100 years ago – Senate

The Senate has revealed that the recent incident at Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, where 119 inmates escaped due to heavy rains, was not a jailbreak but rather the result of the prison's deteriorating structure. The facility, constructed over a century ago with mud, experienced a collapse of its walls during a storm. The Senate emphasized the urgent need to modernize correctional facilities across the country, acknowledging that the outdated infrastructure does not meet contemporary standards.

The Minister of Interior has indicated plans to relocate some correctional centers to enhance space, security, and infrastructure. Efforts are underway to track and re-arrest the escaped inmates, with several already apprehended. The Senate emphasized the importance of appropriating resources for prison modernization and leveraging technology to ensure that correctional facilities fulfill their rehabilitative purpose effectively.
