Former Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko's recent tweet has ignited a wave of political activism across Africa, drawing inspiration from Kenya's Gen Z-led protests against the Finance Bill 2024.

Sonko's tweet, posted on his X account, highlights the continent-wide impact of Kenya's youth-driven demonstrations.

"When Kenya sneezes, the rest of Africa catches a cold. The spirit of protests is spreading like wildfire across the continent. Nigerians are gearing up for nationwide protests, our Ugandan neighbours are preparing to storm and occupy their parliament, and Ghanaians are now demanding their president to host an X Spaces session to address their concerns," Sonko posted.

The Kenyan protests, which have seen thousands take to the streets in opposition to the controversial Finance Bill, 2024, appear to have inspired similar movements in other African countries.

Nigerians, frustrated with poor governance and economic hardship, are mobilizing for nationwide protests.

In Uganda, citizens prepare to storm and occupy their parliament, demanding accountability and better leadership.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians call on their president to engage directly with the public through an X Spaces session to address pressing national issues.

Sonko's tweet reveals the interconnectedness of African nations and their shared struggles.
