Edo Poll: APC's Attack On Obaseki Diversionary Tactics, Says Aide

Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser on Media project to the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Sunday, said the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress is employing diversionary tactics ahead of the September 21 poll by making spurious allegations against his principal.

The Edo APC on Saturday accused Obaseki’s administration of monumental corruption, calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate some top government officials of the state.

The acting Chairman of the state’s APC, Jarret Tenebe, who made this claim at a press conference, said the EFCC had already invited some top government officials, urging the anti-graft agency to bring the investigation to a logical conclusion.

3 Dead, 50 Houses Destroyed As Rain Wreaks Havoc In Yobe

At least three people, were killed while 7 sustained injuries after a building collapsed due to heavy downpour in Nangere Local Government area of Yobe State.

Daily Trust reports that the tragedy occurred at Tsohon Gari in Nangere Local Government Headquarters, this weekend.

It was gathered that over 50 houses were destroyed, rendering several families homeless.

Shuwa Adamu a resident of the community, told Daily Trust that the torrential rain was accompanied by wind.

FG committed to security, welfare of citizens – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to the advancement, security and welfare of the citizens.

Shettima gave the assurance on Saturday when he led a Federal Government delegation to offer condolences to the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, in Keffi, the Nasarawa State capital.

The minister lost her mother, Mrs Aisha Sulaiman-Danladi, on Thursday at the age of 66.

Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, was accompanied by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; and the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa, Dr Emmanuel Akabe.

Edo Community Names School After Late EFCC Chair, Lamorde

The memory of the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Lamorde who died on May 25 this year came to life in the Niger Delta region on Saturday as Ogbona community of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State formally commissioned an ultramodern auditorium and outdoor sports centre at the community secondary school to immortalise the late crime buster.

Tagged ‘Ibrahim Lamorde Hall’, the Ogbona community noted with delight that the projects were inaugurated in remembrance of Lamorde who, in his lifetime, immensely supported war against environmental degradation in the area and Niger Delta region as a whole.

“He (Lamorde) was appalled at the level of environmental degradation and deprivation suffered by many of the communities and believed that their plight needed to be highlighted, and lasting solutions advocated for action, through a pet project he initiated on retiring from the public office,” the community stated.
