Gov. Otti Has Done Well In Provision Of Infrastructure But Good Governance Goes Beyond That –Mbila

In a recent statement, public affairs analyst Nkumogu Obadiah Mbila has expressed his views on how Abia State governor, Dr. Alex Otti, is managing the state, during an interview with The Sun.

Mbila praised Governor Otti for his efforts in developing the state's infrastructure.

He described Otti as a "hero of the people of Abia State," noting that the state had not seen such infrastructural progress under previous administrations.

Mbila acknowledged the governor's success in addressing the state's infrastructure deficit.

However, he pointed out that good governance involves more than just building infrastructure.

While he commended Otti for his achievements in infrastructure, Mbila indicated that he was still assessing other areas of governance that seemed to be overlooked.

One of Mbila's concerns was the uneven distribution of infrastructure across the state's three senatorial districts: Umuahia, Aba, and Ohafia.

He expected a high concentration of development in Aba, given its economic potential, followed by Umuahia, the state capital, and Ohafia, the capital of Abia North.

According to Mbila, this anticipated balance in development has not been achieved under Governor Otti's administration.

Despite these criticisms, Mbila did not dismiss the governor's accomplishments.

He acknowledged that Otti had done "extremely well" in the area of infrastructure but underlined the need for a general approach to governance.

"Governor Otti has done extremely well in provision of infrastructure. But, I’m still analysing other areas that appear to be neglected.

Take for example; Abia has three senatorial headquarters namely Umuahia, Aba and Ohafia. We are not seeing even distribution of infrastructural facilities on the basis of senatorial district. We expected a high concentration of development in Aba, given its economic potential, and then followed by Umuahia, the state capital and Ohafia, the capital of Abia North. This is not how evenly distribution of infrastructural facilities has been with Governor Otti’s administration," he said.
