In Lokoja, Kogi State, a road safety officer named Abu was brutally attacked by armed robbers while returning home from a bank. Recounting the ordeal, Abu stated, "They fired at me multiple times and forcibly took my bag of money." Witnesses observed the robbers trailing Abu on his motorcycle from the bank to Lokongoma market, where they intercepted him and engaged in a violent struggle over the cash, according to Punch. 

The incident, which occurred around midday, prompted an immediate response from law enforcement. According to Police spokesperson William Aya, "Upon receiving the distress call, our officers found Abu lying injured at the scene." A sum of N139,000 was recovered, and Abu was swiftly transported to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds sustained in his legs and shoulder.

Aya stressed the ongoing nature of the investigation, stating, "Our primary focus now is to apprehend the individuals responsible for this heinous robbery and bring them to justice." The community remains on edge following this brazen attack as authorities continue their efforts to ensure safety and prevent further incidents.
