According to DAILY POST reports, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has refuted reports that some ward members of the party in certain states were asked to revalidate their membership as part of the ongoing membership drive.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party clarified that the current membership drive and registration of new members is solely targeted at providing opportunities for eligible Nigerians who are interested in joining the PDP across the country.

The NWC emphasized that the membership status, rights, and privileges of existing PDP members remain valid and are not affected in any way by the ongoing membership drive.

"The NWC in clear terms clarifies that the on-going membership drive and registration of new members is only targeted at providing opportunity and access to eligible Nigerians who are enthusiastic and surging in their millions to register as members of our Party across the country," the statement read.

The party further stated that no existing member is expected or required to have their membership revalidated, as they remain bona-fide members of the PDP and are not subject to any form of revalidation.

The NWC urged all members and officers of the party, especially at the Electoral Ward level, to take note of this clarification and be guided accordingly.
