If You Look at Tinubu's 8m Votes, Put Atiku’s 6.7, Obi’s 6.1, It Was Enough to Defeat Him-Sani Shehu

Former Senator Shehu Sani underlined that Bola Tinubu's vote total in the most recent election would have been less if Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi had combined.

Sani contended in an interview with The Sun that Tinubu's 8 million votes would have been eclipsed by the combined total of Atiku's 6.7 million and Obi's 6.1 million votes. He emphasised further that this claim would be strengthened if votes from his party, the NNPP, and another candidate were included.

Sani called attention to what he considered to be a crucial error made by the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He said that the main mistake was not that several governors, known as the G5, had abandoned the campaign; rather, it was that Peter Obi was not on the ticket.

He hinted that the election result would have been different if the PDP had fielded a more formidable vice presidential candidate.

He made the argument that eight million votes cast for Tinubu, along with six million for Atiku and six million for Obi, was more than enough to overtake Tinubu's total.

Discussions about the tactical choices political parties make during elections and the possible effects of a unified opposition have been sparked by Sani's comments.

Analysts and political watchers continue the conversation by dissecting the election tactics and results.

In reference to Tinubu's eight million votes, Sani stated, "If you look at Atiku's 6.7 and Obi's 6.1, the two votes were enough to defeat Tinubu," according to The Sun. Furthermore, it goes much beyond the NNPP if you include that one point. Therefore, rather than the G5, Peter Obi's passing was the PDP's worst error.
