In a recent interview with TVC News, prominent lawyer Kabir Akingbolu has cast a spotlight on the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State. Akingbolu raised serious questions about the rapid ascent of Governor Siminalayi Fubara through the state's civil service ranks, suggesting that his swift promotion was a product of undue favoritism.

Governor Fubara, who joined the Rivers State Civil Service in 2005, achieved the position of Accountant General—a role equivalent to a Permanent Secretary—within a span of 20 years. Akingbolu expressed skepticism about this rapid progression, hinting at underlying issues. "Governor Fubara joined the Civil Service of Rivers State, I think 2005 or thereabout and within 20 years, he rose to become the Accountant General of the State, which is equivalent to a Permanent Secretary. How? Where's that done?" Akingbolu questioned.

The lawyer's remarks come amid heightened political tensions in Rivers State, where various factions are fiercely vying for power. Akingbolu suggested that former Governor Nyesom Wike played a pivotal role in Fubara's swift rise, indicating a possible ulterior motive. He implied that Wike supported Fubara's advancement to "cover his tracks," alluding to a concealed agenda.

"Wike himself is not hiding it, they've come out openly, so it's not a matter of anybody is spoiling anybody's name," Akingbolu asserted, emphasizing the transparency of Wike's actions.
