According to Guardian, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, President of the Osisioma Foundation, has called on Southeast politicians to stop making things worse for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). "Their actions seem more about seeking attention than actually helping," he said in a recent statement from Enugu. Obidigbo stressed that Kanu’s situation requires careful and quiet diplomacy, not political grandstanding.

He also voiced concerns about Britain’s silence on Kanu’s predicament. "Britain's silence on this issue is troubling," Obidigbo stated. "The complexities of Kanu’s forced rendition and imprisonment demand a thoughtful approach, and the way some politicians are handling it isn't helping at all."

Obidigbo clarified that Kanu’s detention is a security matter involving the National Security Adviser, not just President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or previous leaders. "While the President can influence things, he doesn't have the ultimate authority to release Kanu," he explained.

He further accused the British government of blocking Kanu’s release due to his opposition to their economic interests in Nigeria. "Britain continues to exploit Nigeria for economic gain and political manipulation," Obidigbo said. He pointed out their role in Kanu’s rendition from Kenya and criticized their hypocrisy and double standards. "African youths are increasingly determined to challenge these longstanding issues," he concluded.
