Its dog eat dog in ANC as Zweli Mkhize label Ramaphosa leadership disastrously directionless

opera.com 5 days ago

Former health minister Zweli Mkhize has opened fire on President Cyril Ramaphosa, claiming that the country will not be able to survive under Ramaphosa's "directionless" leadership and that he should not be given a second term. Zweli Mkhize has stated that the ANC's 55th congress in December is a defining moment since it will be the organization's last chance for survival. Zweli Mkhize has pledged, should he be elected, to address the following five problems that are bringing down the country:

Power cutbacks

The Problem of Drug Abuse

Violent crime, in particular crimes based on gender

Unemployment

Despair and destitution

How is Mzansi responding to Zweli Mhkize's declaration that he will seek for the presidency of the African National Congress (ANC)? Given his history and the ominous clouds of corruption charges that surround him, his current position is not exactly appealing. Some reactions that were posted on social media include:

@JuliRee: We cannot afford another five years of a factionalized and directionless ANC," Zweli Mkhize remarked. Here we have a pre-: He was the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Minister of Health, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and Task Group Leader of the African National Congress, but he didn't mind the ANC's internal divisions.

Zweli Mkhize and the NDZ are among the senior KZN politicians who sat back and did nothing as they saw the poor support President Zuma and beg for help from the NEC. Only Ace Magashule, then the NEC chair, went to testify in support of Zuma before the Zondo commission.

@sandile: When someone like Zweli Mkhize believes he can become president of South Africa, it lowers the bar for everyone else.

@TomiRikhotso: Can you picture Zweli Mkhize, the man who stole money during the severe lockdown for the welfare of his kid, as president? You think he'd make a good president? That's the guy who drives the ambulance for the disabled?

When it comes to issues like unemployment, immigration, corruption, crime, foreign policy, SOEs, coalitions, the judiciary, Education, GBV, etc., Zweli Mkhize apparently thinks he has a right to run for president despite saying nothing about any of those things. The African National Congress is completely clueless about the problems facing South Africa.

@Xola Nqola: In the ANC, Dr. Zweli Mkhize is a member of the party's top leadership. He's brave enough to give a carefully scripted speech characterizing the current period of their leadership as "directionless," but he's cowardly enough to avoid responsibility for the statement. This is pure populism, nothing more.
