Emirate Tussle: Kano State Government Rejects N10 Million Fine

The Kano State Government on Saturday rejected a N10m fine for breaching the fundamental human rights of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

A Federal High Court in Kano had on Friday slammed the fine on the Kano Government.

But in a press conference at the Government House where the governor was represented by the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice Haruna Dederi described the situation as unfortunate.

He blamed the development on some enemies of the state who were all out to disrupt the peace and sanity of Kano.

Court Sentences Two To Death In Jigawa

The Jigawa State High Court sitting in Birnin Kudu on Friday sentenced two persons to death for conspiring and killing Yakubu Ibrahim and dumping his dead body by the roadside.

The suspects were arraigned before the court for conspiring and robbing the deceased of his phone, money and taking away his car, after killing him.

The offence was said to have been committed on August 30, 2021, along the Kano-Maiduguri Road at Kantoga roadside in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Finidi George has explained why he decided to step down as the head coach of the Super Eagles.

The 53-year-old turned in his resignation to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Saturday.

This comes days after the NFF issued a statement revealing they are planning to bring in a foreign technical adviser to work alongside Finidi.

In a video posted on social media hours later, a former media officer of the Eagles, Colin Udoh, confirmed he had spoken to Finidi after his decision.

“Finidi confirmed to me that he resigned his position indeed,” Udoh said.

“The reason being that he met with the NFF on Thursday and they had a very good conversation.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, has congratulated Muslims as they mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

Mr Musa Krishi, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity quoted the Speaker as saying this in a statement to commemorate the Muslim festival.

Abbas said the celebration was about total submission to higher authority, sacrifice, and charity.

He urged Nigerians to imbibe these virtues in their daily lives.

The Speaker said the celebration was significant to Muslims, as it reminds the people of the supremacy of Allah and the importance of sacrifice.
