Protesters Storm PDP Headquarters

Protesters on Wednesday flooded the premises of the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, throwing their support for the Acting National Chairman of the Party, Umar Damagun; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

The protesters, who displayed placards with various inscriptions, pledged support for Wike and Damagun, alleging that some people within the PDP are trying to cause disaffection among the leadership.

The protest occurred barely an hour before the meeting of the PDP Governors Forum, and 24 hours before the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, where issues regarding the leadership of the PDP are expected to be discussed.

Ogun gets new Customs boss

The newly deployed Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller James Ojo, on Tuesday, resumed at the Command headquarters, Idiroko.

The new Customs boss, however, warned those who vowed to continually sabotage the economy and security of the country to either have a change of heart or be dealt with. Speaking shortly after taking over from his predecessor, Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu, Ojo sought the support of the operatives of the NCS as well as other stakeholders across the state for a successful tenure.

He lauded the outgoing Comptroller of the Command who has just been deployed to the Federal Operations Unit, Zone B Kaduna, promising to build on the success achieved in stemming the tide of smuggling activities and other border crimes in the state.

NIS Train Adamawa’s Coaches, Others

The National Institute for Sports and Adamawa State government are organizing a 5-day capacity training workshop for coaches, sports administrators, games masters and physical and health educator teachers in Adamawa State.

The program, which was declared open by the executive governor of the state, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who was represented by the deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta. The opening day had more than 200 participants from all parts of the state.

Declaring the event open, Professor Farauta said: “We hope Adamawa State will not only benefit from this training, it will ultimately lead to produce global stars. The governor will support the cause of reducing vices through sports. It is taking place before the commencement of the Governor’s Cup in Adamawa State. We hope the experience from this seminar will be applied in our grassroot sports development.

EFCC Operatives Lay Siege To Yahaya Bello’s Residence

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have laid siege to the Abuja residence of former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

According to eyewitnesses, EFCC officials barricaded the ex-governor’s residence since 9am on Wednesday.

Officials of the EFCC have cordoned off the road and the entrance to the residence of the former governor of Kogi state Yahaya Bello, for yet-to-be-disclosed reasons.
