One chance robbers land in Lagos police net after withdrawing N1.4m from female victim's account

Four men who were said to be members of a robbery syndicate that usually lure victims inside vehicles and rob them in what is commonly known as one chance have been arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command after withdrawing the sum of N1.4 million from the account of their victim, it was gathered on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, who announced their arrest on his X handle, gave their names as Habeeb Azeez, aged 29 years; Michael Adeyeye, aged 26 years; Biodun Iyiola, aged 46 years and Adeleye Dotun, aged 27 years.

The arrested one chance robbers, as posted by Hundeyin on Wednesday.

They were arrested at the Ijora Badia area of the state by police operatives from the Ilasan Division of the command following a complaint lodged by a victim of their one chance robbery.

It was gathered that the victim told the police that the four men posed as driver and passengers and lured her into the vehicle in Ilasan, after which they descended on her, collected her phone and withdrew the sum of N1.4 million after they had access to her bank application.

According to Hundeyin, during their interrogation, they confessed to have been engaging in one chance robbery while they are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Hundeyin wrote: "Detectives from Ilasan Division have arrested Habeeb Azeez, aged 29, Micheal Adeyeye, aged 26, Biodun Iyiola, aged 46 and Adeleye Dotun, aged 27 in Ijora-Badia following discreet investigation into a complaint by a victim that the suspects withdrew N1.4 million from her account during a one-chance robbery at Ilasan."
