According to Sky Sports, Chelsea's veteran defender Thiago Silva has announced his departure from the club at the end of the season.

Joining Chelsea in 2020 from Paris Saint-Germain, Silva played a significant role in the team's successful UEFA Champions League campaign, helping them secure the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles during his time at the club.

Considered one of the top centre-backs of his generation, Silva played a key role in strengthening Chelsea's defense under former manager Frank Lampard.

Alongside Rudiger, Ben Chilwell, and Reece James, Silva's leadership and experience were invaluable to the team.

In his farewell message, the 39-year-old expressed heartfelt appreciation to Chelsea, stating, "Chelsea means a lot to me. I came here with the intention of only staying for a year, and it ended up being four years.

It is already hard to say goodbye in the most normal of circumstances, but when there is mutual love, it’s even harder. But once a blue, always a blue."

Silva's exit signals the conclusion of a remarkable era at Chelsea, where his pace, strength in the air, and leadership qualities made him a beloved figure among fans and fellow players.

Anticipated to receive the captain's armband in his final game against Bournemouth as a tribute, the former FC Porto player leaves behind a legacy of outstanding performances and dedicated service to the club.

During his time under current manager Mauricio Pochettino, Silva featured in 24 matches, starting in 22 of them, demonstrating his enduring skill and influence until the very end of his Chelsea career.
