Why have Arsenal not signed anybody?

After finishing runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League for a second successive season the club’s owners promised that Arsenal would once again be active in the transfer market this summer.

However, despite a number of rumours, none of which appear to have carried much weight, very little has happened in terms of either incomings or outgoings, with the exception of one contract renewal, and several academy players turning down new deals.

There is no need for the Gunners’ fans to panic though. There are still plans to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad, and the pace of activity may begin to hot up now that an important deadline has passed,

June 30th was the end of their financial year, and the Gunners were mindful of falling foul of the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rule.

However, now having got over that obstacle, they have more flexibility and should soon announce for example, that David Raya’s loan move from Brentford has become permanent.

The fact also that some of their key targets are away with their countries at the Euros and Copa América has further complicated matters this year,
