In a recent statement, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the Edo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has addressed the ongoing confusion regarding the party’s governorship primary election, as reported by Vanguard.

According to Aziegbemi, contrary to widespread rumors, the court ruling has not removed Asue Ighodalo as the PDP's candidate.

The misinformation suggesting otherwise has been circulating, causing unnecessary concern among party members and supporters.

Dr. Aziegbemi stated that Asue Ighodalo remains firmly in place as the party's candidate.

He reassured the PDP community, urging them to remain calm and steadfast as a result of the misinformation.

Aziegbemi's statement sought to dispel any doubts and reaffirm the party's commitment to its chosen candidate, ensuring that the focus remains on the upcoming electoral processes.

The clarification aims to maintain unity and confidence within the party ranks.

He encouraged supporters to disregard the false reports and continue their support for Ighodalo.

“The PDP is aware that certain elements who are scared of the soaring popularity of our candidate Dr. Asue Ighodalo are going about peddling rumors that the candidature of Dr. Asue Ighodalo has been nullified."

“Let it be on record that the candidature of Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the flag bearer of the party for the 2024 elections remains intact and that the judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja did not in any way affect the candidature of Dr. Asue Ighodalo," he said.
