According to Daily Trust, Dele Momodu, a notable figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has openly discussed the ongoing political tension in Rivers State between Governor Similanayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. In an interview on Channels TV’s "Politics Today," Momodu attributed the rivalry to a conflict over the control of the state treasury, highlighting the deep-seated issues that often underpin political disagreements.
Further expanding on the challenges facing the PDP, Momodu accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to weaken the opposition. He alleged that the APC aims to dismantle their rival by buying off susceptible members, intimidating the unyielding ones, and sowing discord within the party's ranks.
These statements from a seasoned politician underscore the intense and often acrimonious nature of Nigerian party politics, where allegations of sabotage and coercion reflect the high stakes involved in gaining and maintaining power within the country’s political landscape.
He said, “APC will do everything possible to destroy opposition; buy those who are buyable, to terrorise those who are not buyable and make sure that the party is in disarray, that is all.
