In a bold and unwavering declaration, the Minister of Women’s Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has made it clear that she welcomes accountability in her fight against corruption. Her statement underscores her commitment to transparency and justice in Nigeria, particularly in her role overseeing women's affairs.

Kennedy-Ohanenye's stance is a call to action for all Nigerians to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. She emphasised the importance of holding everyone accountable, including herself, to eradicate the pervasive issue of corruption in the country. This approach, she believes, is essential for fostering a culture of integrity and trust within the government and society at large.

"If I engage in any corruption, hold me accountable as well," she asserted, highlighting her dedication to leading by example. Her words resonate deeply, reflecting her determination to ensure that justice is served without fear or favour. By setting this standard, she aims to inspire others in positions of power to uphold the same principles of honesty and responsibility.

"Please, let's focus on justice. Whoever commits a crime, after investigation, must face consequences," Kennedy-Ohanenye continued. "There should be no sentiments involved. This mindset that some people have is not just ignorance, it’s mischief and wickedness. Someone will defile a girl and claim it's a mindset issue. If it happened to his own daughter, he would react violently. We must focus on justice to achieve our goals."

In collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Kennedy-Ohanenye is working tirelessly to strengthen efforts against corruption. "We are partnering with the ICPC chairman to boost this movement," she announced. She stressed that the Ministry of Women’s Affairs cannot combat corruption alone and urged every Nigerian to stand firm in defending the nation and eradicating corruption.

Kennedy-Ohanenye’s passionate plea and proactive measures highlight a significant step towards a corruption-free Nigeria. Her leadership and willingness to be held accountable set a powerful precedent, reinforcing the importance of integrity and justice in public office.
