1,000 APC members defect to PDP in Akure

More than 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Local Government have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State.

The defectors, who were led by Mayowa Boboye, attributed their defection to lack of internal democracy in the APC.

Among the defectors were APC Ward 8 leader, Deborah Owosusi, Ademola Ayonijebu, Mayowa Boboye, Oloro Alejo and Azeez Ibrahim, who led the Ebira group

They said they would support the PDP and its governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi, to sack the ruling party from Alagbaka Government House in the November 16 governorship election.

Minimum Wage: Tinubu to attend NEC meeting today

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today join state governors at the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting to discuss the new national minimum wage, the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, dropped the hint last night.

The NEC is statutorily chaired by the vice president. It comprises of the 36 state governors, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other relevant federal officials.

Gbajabiamila spoke in Kano while leading a presidential delegation to commiserate with Vice President Kashim Shettima over the demise of his mother-in-law.

Makinde okays staff of office for three monarchs

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the coronation and presentation of staff of office to three monarchs.

Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made the disclosure in a statement yesterday.

He gave the names of the traditional rulers to include: Oba Sakiru Oyewole Akanni Oyelere, the Onifiditi of Fiditi, who will be presented with the staff of office and coronated on July 3.
