Peter Obi the former governor of Anambra state, criticized the Nigerian political class for using public funds to attack those who speak out, rather than addressing concerns and being accountable to the people. He called on Nigerian leaders to abandon harmful habits, stop excessive spending, and start making sacrifices for the greater good.

He stated these on Sunday In a morning Twitter post, where he praised the Kenyan president's responsive governance in addressing public demands, contrasting it with Nigerian leaders' tendency to arrogantly dismiss legitimate grievances of citizens.

Obi emphasized that true progress requires leaders who are sincere, willing to listen, act responsibly, and prioritize the welfare of the people over personal or political interests. He expressed optimism that a "new Nigeria" is possible if the necessary changes and sacrifices are made.

Peter Obi wrote this in a post on his verified Twitter page on Sunday morning.

In his words, "This acknowledgment of the people's demands exemplifies responsive governance. In contrast, we the Nigerian leaders, often arrogantly do the opposite to genuine grievances of our suffering citizens. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns, and being accountable to the people, we resort to using public funds to pay media thugs to insult and abuse those who speak truth to power.
