Former governor of Plateau State, Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun, has expressed concern over recent movements advocating for the creation of a Yoruba nation at the Oyo State secretariat. He viewed this as a dangerous trend and a serious threat to Nigeria's unity.

Tapgun suggested that such movements are fueled by perceived injustices that prompt people to react. He emphasized the importance of restructuring Nigeria, allowing people to govern themselves in their respective states and giving them the space to develop at their own pace. Tapgun believed that once this restructuring is implemented, there would be less agitation and tensions within the country.

According to an interview with The Sun, He said, "It is. It is very dangerous. Again, like I said, all these things about Yoruba nation, about IPOB, about Middle Belt, about Afenifere, it is all injustices that make people gather to react. But, once this country is restructured and people take their place in their states of origin, you give them room to develop in their own space at their own time. Once that is done, I don’t think you will have any agitation"
