Kevin De Bruyne or Modric? Super Eagles legend Mikel Obi Reveals World Best between The Two

Chelsea legend Mikel Obi recently reacted to recent ratings of Luka Modric as being a greater player than Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne, citing that the former is much better.

Modric and De Bruyne are both top-rated midfielders in the world today, despite the fact that they have both passed their prime. The former has an impressive season with Real Madrid and has been instrumental in their LA Liga title wins for over a decade.

Founder of Obi One Podcast, Mikel Obi, has responded to the comparison of Modric as being a better midfielder than De Bruyne, citing that the Belgian international is, on a greater scale, better than the 38-year-old.

"I don't understand how people can say that Modric is better than De Bruyne. In my opinion, De Bruyne is not just better, but much better than Modric." The UEFA Champions League winner stated this as per the Talksport podcast.

Obi went further to make the bold claim that the 32-year-old is currently the best in the world.

"De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world. Look at the stats: De Bruyne got more goals and assists than Modric. Don't forget that De Bruyne plays in the Premier League, the greatest and hardest league in the world, while Modric plays in a weaker league." He said.

De Bruyne signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2015 for a then-club record of £54 million. Since then, he and the team have won the UEFA Champions League, five Premier League championships, five League Cups, and two FA Cups.

The former Wolfsburg man has had a roller-coaster performance this campaign due to injury and fatigue. The three-time Premier League player of the season award winner is not as deadly in his set pieces and passes, but nevertheless, his brilliance and impact on the pitch have helped his team win many games in the few appearances he has made.

Overall, he is a three-time winner of the Premier League Playmaker of the Season Award, and has won the Player of the Year for Manchester City four times.
