Borno Bomb Attack: Female suicide bombers were imported – Reps allege

The House of Representatives, has claimed that the female suicide bombers responsible for the killing of scores in Borno State on Saturday, were imported.

The lawmakers said this in a resolution after considering a motion of urgent national importance by the member representing Gwoza/Chibok/Damboa federal constituency, Ahmed Usman Jaha, on Tuesday.

While condemning the attack, Jaha stated that findings showed that bombers were “recruited, brainwashed and imported from outside the state” to carry out the suicide act in Gwoza.

He further argued that the bombings indicated the ongoing threat of terrorism in the country. The lawmaker also informed the house that more than 180 people, were critically injured and currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in the state.

Rivers Crisis: Pro Fubara group expels members over ties with Wike

The Concerned Rivers Citizens, CRC on Tuesday said some of its members suspected to be loyalists of the state’s former governor, Nyesom Wike have been expelled.

The group, in a statement issued by its President, Jackson Thomas and Secretary-General, Kelvin Eguono said the alleged impostors were expelled for their selfish and malicious activities.

“We are shocked that these individuals, would go to the extent of blackmailing Governor Simi Fubara in an attempt to please their paymasters while ignoring the real issues on the ground.

“We want to make it clear that we are not part of their scheme and do not support their actions,” the statement said.

Kano Emirship tussle: Court adjourns hearing to July 4

A Kano State High Court, on Tuesday, adjourned the hearing of an application of the ongoing Kano Emirship tussle case until Thursday, July 4.

The Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Speaker Kano State House of Assembly, and Kano State House of Assembly, through their counsel, Ibrahim Isah-Wangida, filed a motion ex parte on May 27.

The applicants are seeking an order restraining the 15th Emir, Aminu Ado-Bayero, and four other dethroned Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from parading themselves as traditional rulers.

The respondents are Alhaji Aminu Ado-Bayero, Alhaji Nasiru Ado-Bayero, Bichi Emir; Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar ll, Emir of Karaye; Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa, Emir of Rano; and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya, Emir of Gaya.

Biden warns Supreme Court presidential immunity ruling is ‘dangerous precedent’

U.S. President Joe Biden, said on Monday, the Supreme Court ruling on presidential immunity set a “dangerous precedent” that could turn presidents into kings and called on the American people to “dissent” by rejecting Donald Trump in November’s election.

In clear, measured remarks from the White House, Biden said the court decision meant Trump was highly unlikely to go on trial before the Nov. 5 election for his role in seeking to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and warned it could turn U.S. presidents into kings.

The court found Trump cannot be prosecuted for any actions that were within his constitutional powers as president but can be for private acts, in a landmark ruling recognising for the first time any form of presidential immunity from prosecution.
