According to Daily Trust, Professor Seyi Akinseye George (SAN) has stated that he believes Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has learned valuable lessons from his experiences. George expressed support for devolution of power in Nigeria but emphasized his opposition to the country's disintegration.

His comments come amidst reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is facing pressure to release Kanu. Sources in the presidency suggest that Kanu's release is imminent, although the terms of his release are unclear.

South-East political leaders and elders have been advocating for Kanu's release, citing the region's rising insecurity as a direct consequence of his prolonged incarceration. They believe his release would pave the way for restoring peace and stability in the region.

George emphasized the need for clear conditions in any out-of-court settlement, including the possibility of re-arrest if those conditions are violated. He expressed support for devolution of power but reiterated the importance of preserving Nigeria's unity and diversity.

Part of his words, "I believe the man himself; he has learned some lessons on how to go about the agitation. I support calls for devolution of government in Nigeria, but the country's unity and diversity, with over 200 million people, is a good thing."
