Father Of 12 Found Dead In Bayelsa Brothel

The body of a man, reportedly a father of 12, was discovered in a brothel on Tombia-Amossoma Road in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The man, believed to be from Delta State, left home around 8am on Tuesday and was found deceased and unclothed in an apartment at the brothel later on. All the commercial sex workers had left by the time he was discovered.

Authorities, including the Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Bayelsa State and the police, are investigating the incident to identify the deceased and notify his family. The brothel had been previously targeted by security forces as a high-risk area.

Ile-Ife Flyover to Gulp N14.9b – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has disclosed that the newly initiated flyover project at Lagere, Ile-Ife, will cost N14.9 billion. This announcement was made during the flag-off event where the governor also revealed plans for constructing 55 kilometers of roads across the state's 30 local governments, totaling N30.6 billion in project value. The flyover project has been awarded to Messrs Sammya Nigeria Limited and is scheduled for completion within twelve months.

Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of close collaboration between contractors and local communities to ensure successful project execution. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, reiterated the plea for the governor to focus on completing the projects rather than just initiating them. The monarch highlighted the need for road rehabilitation and expansion in Ile-Ife, urging sustained attention from the government for the benefit of the community.

CBN clarifies repatriated oil and gas proceeds utilization

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a clarification regarding the utilization of repatriated oil and gas export proceeds. According to a circular by Dr. Mahmoud Hassan, Director of Trade and Exchange at the CBN, repatriated export proceeds can be used within the country for settling Petroleum Tax obligations and contractors' invoices. The circular specifies that after the initial 50 percent of export proceeds is immediately available to oil and gas companies, the remaining 50 percent must be held within the country for at least 90 days before being taken out.

Foreign Military bases: ACF expresses disappointment with HURIWA

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) expressed disappointment with the Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA) for allegedly supporting the establishment of foreign military bases in Nigeria by the United States and France. ACF emphasized that HURIWA's stance contradicts its mission of promoting human rights. ACF praised the Nigerian government for refusing to allow foreign military bases, citing negative experiences in neighboring countries like Burkina Faso and Niger. ACF urged continued vigilance to oppose any future attempts to establish such bases in Nigeria.
