Amaechi:When We First Got Into Office, First Thing Wike Did Was Dissolved The LG Council-Inko-Tariah

In a recent interview with Arise News, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, a former Special Adviser to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the caretaker committee.

Inko-Tariah recalled that Governor Wike had similarly dissolved local government councils and appointed a caretaker committee upon assuming office, citing loyalty to his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, as the reason.

Inko-Tariah's statement sheds light on the historical context of the caretaker committee's establishment, which has been a subject of controversy.

The former adviser's remarks suggest that the current hullabaloo surrounding the committee may be unnecessary, given the precedent set by Governor Wike's own actions in the past.

In his own words, “When we first got into office—I'm talking of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike—one of the first things he did was to dissolve the local government councils and appoint a caretaker committee. Those members were duely elected, but because, in his thinking, they're loyal to his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, he dissolved them, and the matter is still in court.”
