All may not be well with the PDP following its NEC meeting, as a prominent member of the party, Segun Showunmi, has said that the party is in soup. Speaking on AIT, Showunmi noted that the decision of the NEC favored certain tendencies despite the expectations of Nigerians after some party leaders vowed to continue their anti-party activities.

Segun Sowunmi pagesepsitename%%Addressing the topic, Showunmi said, "The PDP is in soup. It is soup because society is the audience that we are marketing ourselves to in terms of our audience, and we have to listen to what they expect and what they are saying. They consider our last NEC to be light on the bite. They did not expect that after witnessing the majority of those who were anti-party in the last election vowing to continue in 2027. The society expected us to show some capacity for discipline."

He continued, "I am a PDP member for now. I respect the three committees they created, one for discipline, another for reconciliation, and another for constitutional review in the party. To this extent, they tried. The PDP is in 'soup' because players in the party are the ones who can surely tell you that a certain tendency won, and a leader must have the capability to review the strategy to focus on winning the battle after losing the war. Nigerians are also wondering if the PDP is becoming an NGO that will fuel the ambitions of the ruling party while people who have things to do with their time will become part of the charade."
