In a recent development, Senator Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a stern warning against any attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to transform Nigeria into a one-party state.

According to Vanguard, the warning comes in response to reports of mass resignations by key PDP members in the South East geopolitical zone, which Senator Wabara attributes to alleged machinations by the APC. Among those who have reportedly resigned is the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, a prominent figure within the PDP.

The situation has raised concerns within the party regarding its stability and unity. In light of these resignations, Senator Wabara emphasized the need for the PDP to remain vigilant and united in the face of external pressures.

Senator Wabara accused the APC of employing divisive tactics aimed at weakening the PDP. He asserted the determination of the PDP BoT to intervene decisively to prevent further defections. The BoT, often regarded as the conscience of the party, is committed to preserving the integrity and vibrancy of the PDP.

In a strong statement, Senator Wabara declared, “The BoT will never allow the APC to use some characters in the PDP to turn this beautiful and sweet Nation (Nigeria) into a one-party state.”

Highlighting the depth of experience and integrity within the PDP BoT, Senator Wabara expressed confidence in the ability of the party’s leadership to navigate internal challenges and forge a path forward. He reassured party members that the PDP remains resilient and capable of resolving any grievances through dialogue and consensus-building.
