In a recent interview with TVC News, Samuel Nwanosike, the embattled chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area (LGA), has responded to comments made by Ikenga Ugochinyere, spokesperson for the 'G60 lawmakers' in the House of Representatives. Nwanosike accused Ikenga of attempting to secure financial benefits from Governor Fubara, rather than pursuing legal procedures.

Nwanosike criticized Ikenga's statement that the Court of Appeal ruling did not overturn the sack of 27 lawmakers led by Martin Amaewhule in Rivers State.

The chairman emphasized that Governor Fubara has accepted the Court of Appeal's decision and plans to seek further interpretation from the Supreme Court, which is the proper legal approach.

Nwanosike also questioned Ikenga's claim of having the support of 60 National Assembly members, suggesting that he only has a few followers. He urged Ikenga to refrain from inciting trouble and instead follow the legal process.

The exchange between Nwanosike and Ikenga highlights the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, with both sides presenting differing interpretations of the Court of Appeal's ruling.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the Supreme Court will ultimately decide on the matter.

In his own words, “Ikenga is looking for money from Governor Fubara who has agreed with the judgment of the Court of Appeal. If you listen to what Governor Fubara said, he said he has accepted and that is why he and his followers are going to the Supreme Court for further interpretation. That is the right thing to do, not to come and incite crisis.“
