Rio Ferdinand speaks on why he can not imagine Jackson as being a clinical finisher

opera.com 2024/5/17

Manchester United legend and former player Rio Ferdinand expressed himself to the media in his latest interview as he explained why he could not imagine Nicolas Jackson as being a clinical finisher.

Jackson has had a fair performance for Chelsea this season but his performance is not enough as he is very poor in front of goals. This was seen clearly in their recent defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final where the striker missed three glorious opportunities. Many Chelsea fans held him responsible for the FA Cup exit.

Jackson would have been among the Premier League's top goalscorers this season if he converted most of his chances.

However, Rio Ferdinand talked about why he can't imagine Jackson as being a clinical finisher when he said: "Jackson might have scored goals throughout his days growing up as a player but I don’t think I could ever imagine him being a clean finisher. He’s not. You change aspects of your game but normally with finishers they’re just born, man. They have always been able to score goals in a certain way. Jermain Defoe didn’t just become a great finisher, Michael Owen didn’t become a great finisher."
