AC Milan Reignite Interest in Chelsea's Super Eagles-Eligible Midfielder

Italian giants AC Milan are once again exploring the possibility of signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, according to renowned transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio. The Rossoneri have been long-time admirers of the England youth international, who is also eligible to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Chukwuemeka, 20, joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 but has struggled to establish himself in the team due to form and injury issues. He made only 12 appearances across all competitions last season, despite starting the campaign on a promising note with a goal in the London derby against West Ham.

AC Milan's interest in Chukwuemeka is not new, as they have been monitoring his progress for some time. The Italian club is seeking to strengthen their midfield this summer and believes the young midfielder has the potential to excel in Serie A.

The potential signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall by Chelsea, who worked with new manager Enzo Maresca at Leicester City, may further limit Chukwuemeka's game time at Stamford Bridge. This could make him more open to a move to AC Milan, where he would likely receive more playing opportunities.

AC Milan's existing relationship with Chelsea, having signed Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the club last summer, could facilitate a deal. The Rossoneri are willing to test the waters once again to grab Chukwuemeka's signature, which would be a significant coup for the Italian giants.

Chukwuemeka's talent and potential make him an attractive prospect for AC Milan, and his eligibility for the Super Eagles could add an interesting dimension to Nigeria's midfield options in the future. As the transfer window unfolds, it remains to be seen whether AC Milan will successfully reignite their interest in the young midfielder.
