Three Areas Super Eagles Team Is Weak And Needs Strengthening Ahead Of Their WQ Game

Nigeria's Super Eagles team will target to defeat South Africa in their upcoming World Cup qualifying match, which will be played on the 3rd of June.

However, the Super Eagles appear to have all it takes to beat South Africa and claim the top spot on the log, but some drawbacks in the team might hinder them from staging a good performance in the game.

Below are three areas in which the Super Eagles team is weak and needs tightening as they prepare to host the Banana Bafana.

1. Attacking line

As it stands, the Super Eagles have arguably the best-attacking line in the continent, but their goal output is low, looking at results from their previous games. Sometimes, Osimhen appears to be the only visible attacker in a game, as seen in the AFCON. The coach who will take charge of the game needs to find a perfect combination for the team's front line.

2. Center-back position

The Super Eagles center-back is seemingly too dependent on William Troost-Ekong, and that could be noticed in their previous game, in which they played without the captain and conceded 2 goals. It is a weakness because in the coming fixture against South Africa, Troost-Ekong might still not be available for selection, and his absence may affect the team's performance again. For that, a new center-back combination should be forged by the coach.

3. Central midfield

The lack of a strong and creative holding midfielder has been an issue in the Super Eagles team for some time. Alex Iwobi, who has been the available option for the role, struggles to play there. Ahead of the coming fixture, the area should be tightened by inviting a reputable defensive midfielder.
