Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, has made a fervent plea to Nigerians to abandon tribalism and embrace unity for the sake of the country's progress. As the Senate Committee Chairman on Privatisation and Commercialisation, Kalu emphasized that he cannot support tribalism and instead desires Nigeria to move forward.

During a recent interview, as reported by The Sun Newspaper on Thursday, Kalu addressed crucial national issues, stressing the need to set aside tribalism and corruption for the nation to make progress. He noted that a 21st-century nation like Nigeria should prioritize contentment, unity, and development over divisive factors such as religion and ethnicity.

Kalu, who proudly identifies as an Igbo man born in Igbere, stated, "Secondly is tribalism, when you look at my face you see the face of Nigeria. I'm not tribalistic. I can never ever support tribalism." He emphasized that his face represents a Nigerian who wants the country to progress.

The senator urged leaders to focus on contentment and the country's advancement rather than personal interests. He said, "For a country in the 21st century that wants to move forward, do not talk about religion, do not talk about where you come from. People should be contented with what they have. My contentment is what leads me in life. I want every leader to think about contentment."

Kalu's appeal comes at a time when Nigeria faces various challenges, including ethnic and religious tensions that threaten the nation's unity and development. His call for unity and the abandonment of tribalism resonates with many Nigerians who believe that the country's progress depends on the collective efforts of its citizens, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
